State of progress
The secure parking area will comply with the Gold level of the EU parking standard.
The car park will have a concrete surface area of 25,000 m² and will be able to accommodate 129 trucks.
10% of the parking spaces will be dedicated to super trailer trucks and
10% of sites will be equipped with chargers for refrigerated trailers.
A service area will be available, with a range of facilities including showers, rest areas for drivers, and food and drink outlets.
The security and service features will comply with the Gold level of the EU-Parking standard, respecting the criteria in terms of perimeter, parking area, entry/exit and staff procedures.
A small building will house the car park staff and provide the obligatory services.
Car park staff will be specifically trained to comply with all European Parking Standard procedures and maintain the car park to the Gold level as determined by Commission Delegated Regulation 885/2013/EU.
In addition, the proposed project is also committed to achieving objectives linked to EU priorities, such as contributing to the European Commission's objective of developing a network of SSTPAs, contributing to the improvement of social and working conditions for lorry drivers through the availability of high levels of service for the lorry parking area according to the EU-Parking standard, helping to reduce freight-related crime and road accidents in Wallonia, as well as other incidents on the North Sea-Baltic and Rhine-Alps TEN-T corridors and on the various networks.
Location
Located 200 m from the E40 motorway, 5 km from Liège-Bierset airport and close to the E42 motorway link to the Netherlands, Germany, France and Eastern Europe, from 1 August 2025 your drivers will be able to use our secure car park with GPS coordinates 50.689686, - 5.394440.
This location will provide a strategic connection for heavy goods vehicles between Liège-Bierset airport and the two TEN-T corridors.
Liège-Bierset airport is the leading cargo airport in Belgium and 8th in Europe. It handles a daily flow of over 3,000 metric tonnes of goods and heavy vehicles.
It is important to note that the location of the car park is not detrimental to the local environment, as it is a long way from inhabited areas and protected zones.
